Born on 11/11/76 in San Francisco, California, Danielle fled the nest to study art at Wheaton College in Boston, Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and Royal College of Art in London, England. Mourning received the Deutsche Bank Award upon graduation and traveled to Ireland to dive deeply into self-portraiture and her innate ability to channel her Ancestors.

Mourning’s work reflects the shadow of ourSelves which engages a darker and deeper cellular like memory into conciousness. Mourning plays within sacred physical environments like home, places of ceremony and nature and has been retracing history of the female with an uncanny ability to tell a story which may have been forgotten.

Where these elements meet has most recently been translated within her San Francisco home’s living art installation STAY WITH ME created over the course of 2018-2020.

Mourning most recently hiding in Roscoe, Montana.
