In September of 2024, Danielle Mourning moved to Roscoe, Montana to live in a town of seventeen people full time. Inside the East Rosebud valley of Roscoe lies a rock house and red barn built in 1920 by Swiss Homesteaders, John and Rosina Branger. Building materials were taken from the river rocks and old growth pines along the Valley. The Branger family ran a cattle ranch called T-O Bar and in the 1930’s and 40’s, opened the property as a dude ranch for city slickers.
In 2017, Danielle purchased this historic remnant of a ranch. It was not until 2024 however that she fully committed to the creative possibilities that being a steward to this piece of history could bring not only to her own art but to share with others. For Mourning, the next body of installation work resides inside the rock house and will encompass a residency for artists and weary souls alike in the barn. This time and chapter is a gift she is committed to actualizing.
ART PROJECT 2025 began by settling into this homestead and making friends with the ghosts. Life in solitude begins with adapting to a new version of how one moves through time and space entirely with little to no distractions except oneself. The journey of turning the land into an art installation has begun. This project will require a great deal of financing, commitment and above all, passion.
By supporting ART PROJECT 2025 through the purchasing of Mourning’s past projects’ works on paper, we intend to open this old rock house to visitors quite like what was accomplished with Stay with Me but on an entirely new level.
This time around, we want you to truly STAY WITH ME for a while. This visit will be an experiential installation unlike anything you have yet to experience. It will be a balm and a rattle of your Soul.
